FAQ: SPOT Evaluations for Cross-Listed Classes with Multiple Instructors
Why do students only see one instructor listed in their SPOT evaluations when there were multiple instructors for the course?
As long as the course in Banner teaching load listed one to four people each at 10% or more (5 or more opts out automatically), students' SPOT evaluations will have a section of the form to evaluate each instructor separately.
However, if a course is cross-listed with courses in other departments, it is possible that the other listing does not have both instructors listed.
- While there is some special handling built in to the SPOT system to handle cross-listed courses, the instructor details are still tied to specific sections. For example, let us say that there is a SOC 2104 which is cross-listed with HUM 2104. In order for this to work right, then both instructors would need to be listed on both sections.
: Once the SPOT evaluation system is set up, modifications cannot be made to add instructors to courses. The alternative method of using paper evaluations or Qualtrics for the instructors not included is advised (see links below).
